Speaking of Rust: I talked to a Rust enthusiast the other day. She said she’s pretty satisfied with Rust’s comprehensive standard library. I was just like: “Huh?!” In my experience, you need a third-party library for pretty much anything.

@movq@www.uninformativ.de I recently followed a tutorial to build a kernel in Rust. One thing that struck me was the fact that volatile is not a keyword in Rust, but instead an external crate providing a generic type.
I guess that’s a niche example and touches a language feature rather than the standard library, but I get where you come from.
