Markdown and the Slow Fade of the Formatting Fetish - a nice article about Markdown VS proprietary formatting. With quotes like “Microsoft Office works in an office where you pretend to work until you can finally go home.” 😄
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org I do agree “the rules of the web”, are far too loose - at least the syntax ones. I do think backwards compatibility is necessary.
As for my website, it might be visually very similar, to how it looked since its creation, many years ago, but it is frequently improved. Features that originally used JavaScript, changed to HTML and CSS components, code simplified, optimised to withstand browser updates and new screen resolutions,… Even a good chunk of the errors on your list, were already addressed and I plan to address the rest soon.
Just find it a bit depressing, that my attempt to bring back some of the old Internet spirit, by making a hidden easteregg page page for this years April 1st, was met with people complaining about April fools day jokes and you insinuating my website sucks.
In Mexico you couldn’t register the word Sonora (state), nor Taqueria (kind of restaurant) as there are two common words, but perhaps the combination of both is trademarkable, I’m not sure, so many ‘taquerias’ here don’t file a trademark request. It’s usually “Taquería
An interesting episode about naming stuff, and some implications of the “Trademarks”

@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org I’m allways on the frontline! 🙃
I have just received the royalties for the last book: 98 euros for the four-month period, about 24 euros a month on average. Not even enough for the gym membership.
If you have to keep some knowledge: don’t write for money, the paper (or ebook) industry is in a very bad way, the margins for the author are very small and piracy is devastating.
Hello, i want to present my new revolution twtxt v3 format - twjson
That’s why you should use it:
- It’s easy to to parse
- It’s easy to read (in formatted mode :D)
- It used actually \n for newlines, you don’t need unprintable symbols
- Forget about hash collisions because using full hash
Here is my twjson feed: https://doesnm.p.psf.lt/twjson.json
And twtxt2json converter: https://doesnm.p.psf.lt/twjson.js
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org you must be loved by all the web developers in town! But ok, I have added all the missing semicolons, that should technically be there, but them not being there, does not make a difference.
Font color change inside every summary element, was a very deliberate choice, to color the text, but leave the arrow black (same as website background). But ok, I rewrote the CSS to hide the arrows and make all summaries white - since this also works better, with some dark theme enforcing browser extensions.
HOWEVER “p” as a child element of “summary” is a thing, that as far as I know, all browsers respect and if a font color is applied only once, I don’t think it matters, if it’s done through HTML or CSS, you smart ass.
There’s a secret art easter egg thing, hidden on my website ( https://thecanine.ueuo.com ), for this years April fools event - it’s been there for a few weeks, but now I can finally give hints.
Puh, eine Woche Städteurlaub in Dublin. Das schafft - vor allem die Leber! 🍻🥃
Viele Eindrücke, Gegensätze und wunderbare Menschen.
Jetzt heißt es wieder: Im Alltag ankommen.
twtxt, the voting period has started and will be open for a week.
https://eapl.me/rfc0001/
thanks @prologic!
@bender the idea of the RFC was to reach an agreement on a difficult problem, receiving proposals, and the voting is a simple count to gauge the sentiment of “is this a problem worth to be fixed?, are we committed to implement a change in our clients?”
But that’s a fair point. What do the community expect? What do y’all expect?
For anyone following the proposals to improve replies and threads in twtxt, the voting period has started and will be open for a week.
https://eapl.me/rfc0001/
Please share the link with the twtxt community, and leave your vote on your preferred proposals, which will be used to gauge the perceived benefits.
Also, the conversation is open to discuss implementation concerns or anything aimed at making twtxt better.
oh my god I am never using a css grid again ;;;; converted the sdv shrine to a flex layout, works much better on mobile now! now to just push that update!! :D
DOGE To Rewrite SSA Codebase In ‘Months’
Longtime Slashdot reader frank_adrian314159 writes: According to an article in Wired, Elon Musk has appointed a team of technologists from DOGE to “rewrite the code that runs the SSA in months.” This codebase has over 60 million lines of COBOL and handles record keeping for all American workers and payments for all Social Security recipients. Given that the code has to track the byzantine … ⌘ Read more

Twtxt was made for nerds, by nerds.
I’d like to change that. It’s by nerds/hackers, for nerds/hackers and friends of these. It doesn’t have to be hacky all the time, as you don’t need to be a nerd to have a blog.
But, for that to happen, someone has to build the tools to improve UX.by design there really is no way to easily discovers others
Yeah, I agree, and although there are directories of email addresses, usually you don’t want that, unless you are a ‘public figure’.
I couldn’t say that a microblogging is a “social network” by default, as a blog is not either. At the same time, people would expect to find new people and conversations, as you’d do in a forum.
I think of two features on top of the current spec:
- Clients showing a few posts of what your following are watching but you don’t, so perhaps you find something interesting to follow next. Or that feature of “Your ‘followings’ are following these accounts/people”. (Hard to explain in english, but I hope you get the idea)
- Sharing your .txt into some directory, saying “Hey, I have this twtxt URL, I want to be discovered”. I’m thinking of something like the Federated tab on Mastodon.
@bender@twtxt.net thinked about Gemini protocol. Why corporations shit this name with cryptocurrency and LLMs?
@bender@twtxt.net I taught the whole ecosystem 😁
@prologic@twtxt.net @eapl.me@eapl.me The question I was asked the most was: How do I discover people?
Someone came up with a fantastic idea, instead of adding the new twt at the end of the feed, do it at the beginning. So you can paginate by cutting the request every few lines.
Thank you @python_valencia@twtxt.python-valencia.es for letting me show you the secrets of a decentralised plain text social network like twtxt.
I hope you enjoyed the talk! ❤️🐍
@movq@www.uninformativ.de let’s host yarnd! Or maybe wait until @prologic@twtxt.net return activitypub support which deleted in this commit

Hello World from tt2
My granddaughter will grow up much like me.
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org oooooh! I like how that’s shaping up! Now you need a jobless vacation (not moneyless), so that the project goes from baby crawling, to toddler steps. :-)
Is there a way to auto-insert a time stamp on vi or vim at the beginning of each line? Like, upon opening like so:
2025-03-20 15:04:03 Blah blah blah blah
2025-03-20 15:04:15 Bleh bleh bleh bleh
2025-03-20 15:04:22 ...
The rabbit hole is an interesting concept.
Hi! For anyone following the Request for Comments on an improved syntax for replies and threads, I’ve made a comparative spreadsheet with the 4 proposals so far. It shows a syntax example, and top pros and cons I’ve found:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1KOUqJ2rNl_jZ4KBVTsR-4QmG1zAdKNo7QXJS1uogQVo/edit?gid=0#gid=0
Feel free to propose another collaborative platform (for those without a G account), and also share your comments and analysis in the spreadsheet or in Gitea.
Wow, this is a nice way to practice internationalization for our systems

Mosfets are rapid electronic switches, to feed pulsed frequency amps into a transformer
Maxwell Chikumbusto has invented how to make power from the air, using frequency amps to make a load work normally using power from the transient energy in the air.
Sandy Kidd and others are making two spinning wheels make trust, defying gravity. This should be possible but the angle is critical to get right. Such motions are complex, my picture is poor.
Bit of an update, there is now a general licence for all my stuff:
“Unless projects are accompanied by a different license, Creative Commons apply (“BY-NC-ND” for all art featuring the Canine mascot and “BY-NC” for everything else).”
It’s even included on my website, where most of the demand for a clear licence originated from:
In practice this changes nothing, as I was never enforcing anything more than this anyway and given permission for other use too. Now it’s just official that this is the baseline, of what can be done, without having to ask for permission first.
My twtxt feed is now also available at gemini://roccodrom.de/twtxt.txt
I’d like to know more about what andros and prologic are talking about, I feel lost.
“This will be managed by Registries.” Are we talking about these registries?
https://twtxt.readthedocs.io/en/latest/user/registry.html
If you have even a passing interest in what, or rather who is the cause of (not just) Googles enshitification and 15 to 30 minutes to spare, I would strongly recommended reading The Man Who Killed Google Search, or listening to the podcast episode, linked at the very top of the page.
It needs to be emphasised, the majority of these changes for the worse, are not an accident. They’re done very deliberately by cockroaches, seeking short-term profits, they can take a big chunk of, only to jump ship to another company and let everyone else, suffer the long term consequences of their actions.

@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org Nein nein, nichts plattdeutsches. “Eberhardt Eichhörnchen” ist eine nette Alliteration und kommt aus einem Urlaub von vor ein paar Jahren. Auf dem Campingplatz gab es ein Eichhörnchen und der Eberhardt war durch eine Handwerkerwerbung präsent.
