reviewing logs this morning and found i have been spammed hard by bots not respecting the robots.txt file. only noticed it because the OpenAI bot was hitting me with a lot of nonsensical requests. here is the list from last month:

i have placed some middleware to reject these for now but it is not a full proof solution.

But let’s try to think beyond. 2 ideas: (1) writing “forces clarity, structures your thoughts, sharpens your perspective”. But it also generates thoughts in the sense of Heinrich von Kleist (1805). (2) You’re writing for “the future you, one right person, one day” but you are also writing for the AI. The idea of AI as an audience.

When I woke up today we had already disconnected from the Russian power grid. I checked the uptime of my servers: no reboots, no outages. Not that I was very worried. I’m realizing that my performance bottleneck is @prologic@twtxt.net ! It is actually calculating the hash to make the replicas, and specifically users with very long feeds 😂 . I’m seriously thinking about enabling replies via configuration.

I have infinite scroll now! I can finally focus on replies and mentions 😋

@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org Es ist immer noch so ähnlich. Da kommen so viele verschiedene Ebenen innerhalb und außerhalb der TYPO3-Umgebung zusammen, dass man sich wundert.

Und die TYPO3-Core-Entwickler nehmen gefühlt jeden fancy Shice mit, den sie gerade finden. Das reißt dann immer wieder Prozesse ein oder es muss ein gigantischer Aufwand betrieben werden, damit “grundlegende” Funktionen wieder hergestellt werden.
In den Kommentaren ist dann immer nur zu lesen “Tja, Pech. Gibt’s nicht mehr. Sei froh, dass wir ‘ne undokumentierte Schnittstelle dazu im Code versteckt haben. Bau’s dir selbst.”
Und der OpenSource-Gedanke ist bei einigen Erweiterungen (die als Quasi-Standard gelten) auch nur noch zu erahnen. Da müssen teilweise Abos abgeschlossen werden, damit einige Funktionen genutzt werden können.

Es wird auf jeden Fall nie langweilig.

The impossible happened, and I actually drew something, second month in a row. Wanted to try drawing him standing, with some semblance of correct anatomy, without heavily referencing someone elses drawing, bring back the collar, darker “hair” and separate every different color, with a black line - for some kind of a more simplified look.

I have managed to make the fetching of feeds asynchronous. To do this I have set up a small system of task queue. All requests are executed at the same time! 🚀

A random suggestion. You should add a password to your private ssh key. Why? If someone steals your key, they won’t be able to do anything without the password.
You should run: ssh-keygen -p
And remember to make a backup copy of key file. As a developer, it is a one of the most valuable files on your computer.

Got my teeth cleaned professionally today and I am still feeling it. Recommendation is that I use an electric toothbrush… Health over sustainability I suppose.

@Unterhaltungen: Die von gestern zu verschlüsselten Nachrichten war ausschlaggebend für die Umsetzung. In “Timeline” und “Yarn” haben mich die Lösungsansätze bisher nicht überzeugt. Aber wir können ja alle etwas von einander lernen.
