Well, crap, and now it is. This is so odd. Things do not work sometimes, then sometimes they do! 🤯

@prologic@twtxt.net trying out as in? I have a BlueSky account, using my own domain, but I do not longer host a PDS.
@bender@twtxt.net Hah looks like you get more interactions here 🤣
@bender@twtxt.net Ok 🙏
@prologic@twtxt.net oi! :-D I think it is fine as is right now. My vision isn’t as good as it used to be, and my display is not the “standard” size. Phanpy uses a pretty neat slider on its settings that allow you to set the default size. I will query its developer to see what he has to say.
@bender@twtxt.net Can you suggest a better default font size that works well on desktop and mobile? 🤔
@prologic@twtxt.net quite good, under Linux. I had to zoom in a notch, as the default is a tad small on my 27” display. But I do that for many websites.
How’s that?
@bender@twtxt.net II’ll try it 👌
It’s the font stack that Phanpy uses. It works quite well under Linux, macOS, and Microsoft Windows.
@prologic@twtxt.net, I think font-family: ui-rounded,-apple-system,BlinkMacSystemFont,Segoe UI,Roboto,Ubuntu,Cantarell,Noto Sans,sans-serif;
is a better font stack than current for Yarn web.
I have grown used to, and to love, the Ubuntu font. It is highly legible.
@prologic@twtxt.net yes.
Glad to hear you are okay, buddy.
The web is such garbage these days 😔 Or is it the garbage search engines? 🤔
@prologic@twtxt.net glad to hear (about being alive). Get well soon!
I’m alive 👋 Juat ill 🤧
Oh. so i can see it now that i trust your pod.
@bender@twtxt.net Yep. 😅
I thought the same thing as this person in the comments:
Whenever a band looks like this I always like to imagine a conversation where at least one member was like “I ain’t wearing that, man”
🥴
@movq@www.uninformativ.de that’s pretty weird, but easily covered under a performer’s “job description”. :-D
Since we’re liking masked musicians here on twtxt, let me share this gem with you:

@xuu@txt.sour.is I think he is on vacations (I sure hope he is, having fun and all!), or something. I haven’t seeing anything from him for over a day now. Very unusual.
@bender@twtxt.net Because the cities are too optimized for cars? 🫤 Yeah, I live in a somehwat rural area and you can use the bike for a lot of things. There aren’t many “big” cities here anyway, that’s true.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de I envy you! In Europe, using an e-bike is completely doable. In the States, in many cities, not a chance. :-(
Had a test drive on a foldable e-bike today and now I’m extremely tempted to get one of those things. 😅
@prologic@twtxt.net just rebuild my image.. though git says i am already at latest
@prologic@twtxt.net, are you running Ollama on your Mac Studio? How much RAM does it have? How does it performs with 7b, and 13b models?
334.90

. 😬 This is germany, so it wants a comma, not a dot …
@movq@www.uninformativ.de Yeah, the Swiss and C++ programmers use apostrophes. :-) My grandpa had an electronic desk calculator that also used some kind of apostrophes as the thousands separator on its cool display. Maybe it consisted of Nixie tubes, can’t remember anymore.
I think non-breaking spaces are preferred nowadays to avoid the confusion.
This is a good reminder to support the work of the FSFE:
334.90

. 😬 This is germany, so it wants a comma, not a dot …
@bender@twtxt.net I noticed that I can’t type a .
directly. Yesterday, I pasted the number from an email (because why would I type it and probably make a mistake in the process?), so it looks like it simply stripped the dot entirely …
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org Dots as thousands separators are the most confusing thing to me. 🥴 I like '
. Basically, anything at the bottom should be a decimal point and anything at the top a thousands separator.
Maybe it’s time to think about taking the website and all software offline.
This will open the gates of hell, allowing lawyers to harass free software developers. Not because of the actual content of those proposed laws, because there is supposed to be an exemption for free software – but because there is a great tradition here in germany, where lawyers just make false claims and try to extort money from you. Can you safely ignore them? Should you seek legal council immediately? You never know. It’s best to avoid becoming a target in the first place.
Besides, the current wording is just an EU thing. It will have to be transformed into german law (and french law and spanish law …), which means our legislative bodies can screw up things big time. It’s quite possible that they won’t include that exemption or include it in a very vague and ambiguous way.
I’m really angry right now and hopefully I’ll think differently tomorrow.
@prologic@twtxt.net All good mate.
@eldersnake@we.loveprivacy.club sorry I meant to get to this today, please remind me to elaborate on this position a bit more later but I think it’s otherwise pretty rubbish
LOL what does “lightly encrypted” mean?! 🤣
334.90

@movq@www.uninformativ.de that would have never worked for me. I don’t have that kind of money in a bank account. 😂
We should standardise numerical notations, at least the nations using the Arabic numerals. Spain also uses the period as the thousands separator. For legibility sake, commas and periods make sense, like €3,500.25, for example. That’s three thousand five hundred Euros, and 25 Euro cents. But this should also work: €3500.25.
It makes little sense that €334.90 gets interpreted as €33490 (or €33,490). 🤯
Oof, is it any wonder some of us don’t want to just give out our info online willy-nilly.
Also that credit card ‘encryption’ will likely land that company in very hot water, no doubt far away from PCI DSS requirements.
@prologic@twtxt.net what do we make of Labor’s proposed social media minimum age ban, I.e ID verification, and the likes of Yarn? I haven’t been able to find out exactly how far the legislation goes, but some have said it’s broad enough to include any site that even has a comment section 🤔 but that could be FUD.
334.90

. 😬 This is germany, so it wants a comma, not a dot …
@movq@www.uninformativ.de The dot is the thousands separator, so I’m surprised that it did not interpret it as €334,900.00. Luckily, you caught it in time! :-)
@xuu@txt.sour.is Hahaha, nice expression. :-D
Lol. “Lighty Encrypted” https://www.pcmag.com/news/hot-topic-breach-confirmed-millions-of-credit-cards-email-addresses-exposed
Numbers are hard. I just almost accidentally sent 33k€ to someone via bank transfer, because the banking website interpreted 334.90
as 33490,00
. 😬 This is germany, so it wants a comma, not a dot …

@wbknl@twtxt.net Tell us more! Who is Thomas Feiner? 🤔
Thinking about how underrated is Thomas Feiner!
You need to figure out what it means to have “free thought”, “to reason”, “have deep understanding” and be able to apply knowledge in unfamiliar environments or scenarios. You have to figure out what it means to “dream”. You have to figure out what it means to hold “ethics”, “morals” and even “beleifs”.
@slashdot@feeds.twtxt.net When are we going to resign ourselves to a position of not achieving AGI and so-called AI in the first place? Hmmm 🧐 Fundamentally I don’t think we understand how the human brain works or what it means to be a “conscious free thinking being” – I’m not convinced we’ll figure this out to be honest.
