Should Waymo Robotaxis Always Stop For Pedestrians In Crosswalks?
“My feet are already in the crosswalk,” says Geoffrey A. Fowler, a San Francisco-based tech columnist for the Washington Post. In a video he takes one step from the curb, then stops to see if Waymo robotaxis will stop for him. And they often didn’t.
Waymo’s position? Their cars consider “signals of pedestrian intent” including forward motion wh … ⌘ Read more

SvarDOS: DR-DOS is Reborn as an Open Source OS
SvarDOS, a compact open-source operating system derived from DR-DOS, has switched to using the EDRDOS kernel, marking a shift from its FreeDOS distribution roots. The change allows the operating system to fit on a single 1.4MB floppy disk while offering a network-capable package manager that can fetch from a repository of over 400 packages.
Unlike its rival FreeDOS, SvarDOS can run … ⌘ Read more

Happy new year Twtxt people. I’m grateful for getting to meet/talk to you all, It certainly was the best thing to have happened to me in this “2024” chapter of my life.
@prologic@twtxt.net Do you have any data about the #twtxt health? How many people are currently using twtxt?
Are there any good Registry? I like to check the mentions.

I’m currently writing a tutorial (in French) to learn the basics of groff

to typeset generalist PDF (not manpages). It’s my nerdy project for the time being, and it grew quite larger than I anticipated (it probably will have 40 pages when finished)… not because groff
is hard, but because my goal is people who never touched a formatting language, so I have to cover the basics.

Thanks @bender@twtxt.net for the feedback. I fixed and expanded the article. I’m sorry for my poor interaction. Furthermore, I’m reading and writing while programming a client in Emacs.
Years ago, I had a falling out with PayPal, when they implemented ToS changes, that would let them withhold your money without a reason and randomly subtract “ToS violation fees” from your balance.
They reverted the ToS violation fees part, but I refuse to do business with any company, who has the goal, to even try presenting such a change, to their clients.
I’m not surprised PayPal is alongside questionable fee increases, also running scummy browser extensions (through companies they acquired), that override almost all affiliate links with PayPals and present you with inferior discount coupons, to trick you into spending more money, shopping on sites owned by their partners.
The honey extension scam - YouTube video
Ironic they were even “referal link scamming” the influencers, they paid to promote their extension - PayPals ability to scam the clueless is quite impressive, but luckily it does not work on me.

Did I write here already that the reason why I love Twtxt so much is that it works without having to compile, install anything extra. Just the bin applications that come with 95% of all operating systems and you’re good to read and participate, giving you have a domain name somewhere to host the twtxt.txt file.
